FAQS
Is my duck adoption tax deductible?
No. Duck adoptions are considered event participation purchases and are not tax deductible.
What is a duck adoption?
A duck adoption is your entry into the Myrtle Duck Festival race while supporting a participating local nonprofit organization.
Do I receive a physical duck?
No. Ducks are symbolic race entries and are not shipped or distributed to participants.
Where does the money go?
Half the proceeds of every duck adoption directly supports the participating nonprofit organization connected to your duck color/team.
Do I win money if my duck wins?
No. Winning ducks raise additional funding and prize support for their nonprofit organization — not the individual duck adopter.
Do I need to attend the event to participate?
No, but we encourage everyone to come enjoy the festival, live entertainment, food vendors, family activities, and the race experience.
What happens if the event is delayed or modified?
Event timing, race operations, and logistics may change due to weather, safety, or permitting requirements.
Can I adopt more than one duck?
Absolutely. The more ducks you adopt, the more entries your selected foundation receives in the race.
